One of the drawbacks of every mountain location is accessibility.  You can't land a passenger jet in a mountain valley, mountain trains are notoriously slow, and the winding mountain roads can be a daunting proposition to even the most experienced drivers (especially in the depths of winter).

Unfortunately Claviere is no exception to this rule and the main reason that we chose to set up The Alpine Transfer Company was to make Claviere and its neighbouring resorts more accessible to members of the public who do not want to drive to the resort, or hire a rental vehicle.

We have made this guide so that you can compare the various Claviere transport options that are open to you.  We have tried to be as objective as possible and can only hope that once you have studied the alternatives in detail you will choose to travel to Claviere with us!!!

Which are the Closest Claviere Airports?

Getting to Claviere from the Airport

By ATC Minibus

Turin (1hr from the airport to Claviere) Torino Caselle airport

Geneva (2hr and a half from the airport to Claviere) Ginevra airport

Grenoble (3hr from airport to Claviere) Grenoble airport

As you can see it's possible to drive from Turin to Claviere in about an hour, and from Geneva and Grenoble to Claviere in 2 to 3 hours. The Alpine Transfer Company run a regular Claviere service that will deliver you to your hotel or chalet with the minimum of fuss.

By Bus

There is a limited bus service during the day from Oulx train station to Claviere.

By Train

There is a bus link from Turin airport which stops at Porta Nuova train station and from there are direct trains throughout the day from Torino Porta Nuova to Oulx. Oulx is the train station for all the villages around Claviere.

There is a local bus from Oulx train station to Claviere but the service is irregular - sometimes 1/2hr between services sometimes 1 1/2hrs and the service stops early in the day.
