Getting to Briançon by Public Transport

While it is possible to get to Briançon using public transport, the options are quite limited and it is likely that you will have to change several times.  As such we strongly recommend that you use our Briançon transfer service, which provides a far more efficient and affordable service and is able to deliver you directly to your ski accommodation.

Briançon Train Services

Briançon's train station is located on the Avenue du Général de Gaulle, while Oulx train station is situated 38km away, just over the French-Italian border.

Trains to Briançon

Briançon is served by trains from Grenoble, Marseille and Paris.  Although train tickets to and from Briançon are relatively affordable, journey times tend to be very long.  Furthermore, as train services run between town centres, you will have to use shuttle services at either end, which not only add time, but also cost to your journey.  Alternatively you may choose to use our ATC Bus Services, which provide regular airport transfers to Briançon

Trains to Oulx

Oulx lies just over the Italian-French border and is served by trains to Turin, Milan and Paris.  If you are flying to either Milan or Turin, you will first have to take a shuttle bus from the airport to the mainline station, which will take just over an hour, then take a train to Oulx and then take a bus to Briançon.  Although ATC do provide an Oulx to Briançon transfer service, we recommend that you save both time and money by using either our Turin-Briançon, or our Milan to Briançon transfer service.

Trains between Oulx and Milan take between 2'18" and 4'12" and run 7 times a day, while trains between Oulx and Turin take between 0'48" and 1'30" and run 10 times a day.  The Oulx to Paris service takes just under 5 hours and runs twice a day.  For further details please visit the Trenitalia website.

Briançon Bus Services

Local Services

During the winter-season (December to April) a local ski bus service runs between Briançon SNCF and Monetier Les Bains serving all of the villages between.   The service runs from early in the morning until shortly before midnight with occasional services running as far as Le Lauzet and Le Casset in the upper valley.  For further details and timetables please click here.

Grenoble to Briançon Bus Service

A Grenoble to Briançon bus service operates throughout the year and runs between the Gare Routière in Grenoble and the SNCF station in Briançon.  If you are travelling via Grenoble Airport you will have to take the Airport Shuttle to the Gare Routière, from which you will catch the bus to Briançon. You can find current timetables for the Grenoble to Briançon bus service on the VFD website.

Unfortunately there are only a limited number of places available on any one day and if you wish to use this service then we strongly advise you to book well in advance.  However, ATC offer a Grenoble to Briançon transfer service, which has the added advantage of transporting you directly from Grenoble Airport to your chosen accommodation.

Marseille to Briançon Bus Service

A Marseille to Briançon bus service operates throughout the year and runs between the Gare Routière in Marseille (located next to the Marseille St Charles SNCF station) and the SNCF station in Briançon.  The service runs three times per day and takes approximately 6 hours.

If you are travelling via Marseille Airport you will first have to take the Airport Shuttle to the Gare Routière, from which you will catch the bus to Briançon. You can find current timetables for the Marseille to Briançon bus service on the SCAL website.
