Getting to Alpe d'Huez by Public Transport

Alpe d'Huez is reasonably well connected in terms of public transport.  However, if you are travelling Grenoble Airport you will first have to take a shuttle bus to the city centre (1 hour) before catching a bus to Alpe d'Huez (1'45") and as such your journey is likely to last between three to four hours including changes.

As such we strongly recommend that you use our Alpe d'Huez transfer service, which provides a far more efficient and affordable service and is able to deliver you directly to your ski accommodation in less than half the time.

The closest major train station to Alpe d'Huez is located 54km away in Grenoble.  The train station in Grenoble is located next to the Gare Routière, from where there operates a regular Alpe d'Huez bus service (see below).

Grenoble to Alpe d'Huez Bus Service

A Grenoble to Alpe d'Huez bus service operates throughout the year and runs between the Gare Routière in Grenoble and several different destinations in Alpe d'Huez.  If you are travelling via Grenoble Airport you will have to take the Airport Shuttle to the Gare Routière, from which you will catch the bus to Alpe d'Huez. Unfortunately there are only a limited number of places available on any one-day and if you wish to use this service then we strongly advise you to book well in advance.  However, ATC offer a Grenoble to Alpe d'Huez transfer service, which has the added advantage of transporting you directly from Grenoble Airport to Alpe D'Huez report.
