Turin is the closest major airport to Serre Chevalier and given that it is served by both Ryanair and Easyjet it provides one of the cheapest and most convenient gateways to the ski-resorts of the Haute Alpes region.  Unfortunately there is no direct public transport route between Turin Airport and Briançon, although it is possible to travel by a combination of airport shuttle, train, and coach.  Easier said than done if you are travelling with kids and skis!
