Grenoble airport is situated just 93km away from Alpe d'Huez and as such is one of the most popular gateways to the ski-resorts of the Rhône-Alpes region.  Unfortunately there is no direct public transport connection between Grenoble airport and Alpe d'Huez, although you can catch a shuttle bus to the Gare Routière, which is located in the centre of Grenoble, and then catch a coach to Alpe d'Huez.  Easier said than done if you are travelling with kids and skis!
